Debug Mode

You're not supposed to be in here.
...ah...but have you ever wanted to look through walls?

Have you always wanted to try out a custom move? Give yourself powers beyond imagination? Blow up a city? Well you can!

Debug Mode lets you try out all the insane or perfectly reasonable moves you might want to.

To use debug mode, first make a duplicate of your character sheet. Then change the System line to read;

Doing this helps GMs keep track of which sheet you're using when you play.

You can change anything you want when using a Debug Mode sheet. Anything!

• Give yourself new and exciting moves.
• Take spells
• Make up spells
• Use out-of-bounds stats
• Impossible consumables
• Use moves from other systems.
• Give yourself different perks
• Override basic moves with different versions
• Anything your imagination lets you!

Important: When using non-standard things, mark them with an asterisk (*). This helps you keep track of which things are non-standard, and the the GM to spot your specific versions of moves or other items.

You must ask a GM if you are allowed to use a Debug Mode sheet. It's also good manners to ask the other players as well. If someone declines, use your standard sheet.

As usual, it's considered poor manners to argue with the GM, even if you did make the move.

Rewards given to Debug Mode sheets do not apply to your standard sheet. This applies to Gold, XP and even other statistic counters. Rewarded and purchased items may not transfer, either. For all intents and purposes, the debug mode sheet is considered a separate character from your main sheet.

So you think your custom move or item or perk is good enough for inclusion, and want it included in the main game? Great!

Tell the curators about it, and it'll be reviewed for inclusion. Just keep in mind some of the following stuff.

• The move is likely to be heavily modified or re-balanced.
• The move is no longer your own after that. It's part of the system now.
• The name, roll conditions, or even behavior may be changed entirely.
• It may not be accepted at all! Common reasons something gets rejected are…
  • Overlaps with a different move.
  • Creates a conflict with another move's perk.
  • Creates too much complexity in gameplay.
  • Gives too much or too little power to a GM or player.

But don't be sad if it gets rejected! You can still keep it on your debug mode sheet. No one's going to take it away from you.
