Game Over
There are three pay-scales of being taken out in Kamisekai.
Unconsciousness
When your HP reaches 0 and the GM decides the blow was not a mortal one, you may be declared Unconscious. The GM must declare if you are unconscious for the rest of the session or temporarily. If you will be unconscious for the rest of the session, you cannot be revived, but will not suffer penalties of a Bad End and still receive XP for the session.
- If Temporary or To End of Session
- The GM may describe what happens to you while you're out.
- You can take no actions while unconscious.
- If the session ends you will not suffer additional penalties and will gain XP normally.
- If Temporary
- HP may be restored, but it will not revive a you.
- You may be revived by some items or spells.
- You may recover after a significant time or end of combat, at the GM's discretion. If your HP is 0, it becomes 1 on recovery.
- You will Dead if
- Your HP is 0 and you are struck for damage again by a Player or Enemy.
- All other players are rend Unconscious or Defeated and the GM has no other outcome planned.
Defeat
In some cases you may be taken out by an enemy, such as taken to a place out of reach by the players, afflicted with a severe status such as lust or longing, or injured beyond simple recovery.
In some cases, you may be defeated but permitted to still take some actions such as:
- Talking, and using moves that only require your voice.
- Hobbling about or taking simple actions in the environment.
- Using specific moves as prescribed by the GM.
In some cases, the condition may be recoverable, but this is up to the GM in question.
If still Defeated at the end of the session, the player should handle it like a death; reporting it to their deity and/or applying appropriate punishments.
Death
Kamisekai doesn't let you cheat misfortune. If you take a mortal blow, are struck while unconscious, or all other players become unconscious or defeated, you will face Death. What happens to you next is determined by whether or not you have a deity.
No Deity
If you have no deity, the actions to apply to your character are as follows:
- Remove half of your current GP
- Remove half of your current XP
- Remove LP based on your current total (assigned and available) LP
- 30 or less: 1
- 31 to 50: 2
- 51 or more: 3
- Remove an appropriate number of stats/perks/moves (See levels) to match the number of deducted level points. You may keep the remainder of any sacrificed level points.
Deity
A Deity (or Kami/Savior/Hero/Rescuer/Reaper/Master other obvious title) is a player character who is responsible for handling you when you are Defeated.
To name a Diety just put one on down on your character sheet and include a link to their profile. The next time you are defeated, you will need to wait for them to dispense your consequences before you can play again.
The player you select:
- Should not be you.
- Can be anything from a normal person, a common animal, a hero or a even a kami.
- Should be aware of how the system works and the kinds of consequences they can issue.
- Should probably be told you're naming them.
- Should be someone you trust and respect.
If you have a Deity on your sheet, the GM will send the following template as a note to your Deity:

As a follower, please remember:
- You must wait for your deity to issue punishment before playing again.
- You may abandon or change your deity at any time.
- If you abandon your deity while waiting for them to issue punishment, you must take the standard Bad End option instead.
- If abandoning a deity, you may remove any standing disabilities or weapon/armor restrictions they have placed upon you.
Being A Deity
Any Player Character or Non Player Character may be a Deity to any other character. Your job as a Deity is to handle the deaths of other Player characters by deciding on the consequences of their failure.
The consequences should be worse than a standard Bad End.
Some examples that could be applied in tandem with them:
- Withholding or taking Armor or Weapons.
- Disabling or removing Moves, Stats or Perks.
- Removing more than the normal amount of LP or gold.
- Forcing the player to go through a session or be rescued by another follower.
- Forcing the player to use a cursed weapon, accessory, or armor.
- Inflciting a debility or curse on the player.
- Any other sadistic thing you can imagine.
Important things to remember about being a Deity:
- The player and you are in a private contract for the player's submission.
- No one can tell you how exactly to Bad End a player.
- Letting players off easy is very frowned upon.
- A player can abandon you at any time without suffering additional consequences.
- A player can ignore your bad end at any time and abandon you, and remove any previously imposed consequences.
